Hello & Welcome!
Hello, and welcome to the Just One Thing Website! My name is Jo, and I am a Mindfulness Practitioner based in the Derbyshire Dales.
I established Just One Thing to enable individuals, small groups, and workplaces in Derbyshire to access affordable Mindfulness-Based Wellbeing courses, workshops, and resources. I am particularly aware of the continuing pressures faced by those working in the charitable and not-for-profit sector, as well as the Local Authority, and offer tailored courses to support employees and volunteers with their mental wellbeing. Tuition and support can be provided online and face-to-face. If you would like to find out more, please get in touch.
This website brings together the reading and information that I have been gathering since beginning my studies at Nottingham. I hope that you find it useful. For further information about the sources of this information and other websites that you might find useful, please visit the resources page.
I have previously worked as a Project Coordinator for Rural Action Derbyshire, the Derbyshire Library Service and in education. I graduated with a BSc in Environmental Sciences from the University of East Anglia in 1995. I live in the Derbyshire Dales with my husband and have three grown-up children, and in my spare time I enjoy walking with my dog, reading, drawing, baking, crochet and yoga. I am looking forward to this new chapter, bringing mindfulness support to colleagues and partners within the not-for-profit sector and the local community. If you would like to join me on this new path, please do get in touch!
Certificate: Completion of Foundation
Training in Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy
Having experienced a marked improvement in my own mental and physical wellbeing when I started practicing mindfulness and meditation, I became curious about how and why mindfulness worked. In 2021 I enrolled in the Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy Training at the Nottingham Centre for Mindfulness, part of Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. This training has enabled me to develop and deepen my own mindfulness practice and learn the skills necessary to begin teaching mindfulness to others. I have now completed the final phase of my training and have started delivering Mindfulness Based Programmes and taster sessions in the community and workplaces.
